Summer's here, and Dr. Schultz is giving us his crash course on how to achieve beautiful, glowing summer skin.
Step 1: Regimen Ready
Adopt a consistent skin routine right away. Dr. Schultz recommends six products to start: cleanser, toner, exfoliant, antioxidant, sunscreen, and moisturizer. If you don't know what type of skin care regimen you should be on, take this quiz to get tips from Dr. Schultz. Use this routine daily for two weeks and in that time you will start to see improvements in color, texture, luster and brightness.
Step 2: Lighten Up
Summer months mean warmer temperatures... and humidity. That means it's time to switch to lighter skincare products that won't clog pores. Choose lighter, water-based, oil-free products. Then, in the winter, you can go back to heavier moisturizers.
Step 3: Bye, Blemishes
Clear up those blemishes on your back and chest that have been hiding under your clothes. A body exfoliant like Daily Exfoliating Body Lotion removes dead, dulling skin that can clog pores and cause breakouts. Apply sparingly, about a tablespoon amount, once a day for 2 weeks, then twice daily. Follow with a light moisturizer.
Step 4: Soon-to-Be Tan
After applying your exfoliant, get a sun tan without the sun with a self-tanner. It's important to apply the exfoliant first to create an even base for your soon-to be bronzed skin. No streaks!
Step 5: Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow
Decide how you're going to manage unwanted body hair that's less covered in the summer, specifically the bikini and underarm area. Dr. Schultz recommends trying laser hair removal if you are prone to ingrown hairs from waxing.
