Pores Stretch
Pores do not open and close on their own; however, their size can fluctuate. Pores are naturally very small, almost invisible to the naked eye. But, when pores clog with a mixture of oil and dead skin cells, they expand as the clog grows. This isn't an "open" pore; rather, it is "stretched," which makes it easier to see.
Pores Open...Slightly
Luckily, these clogs are not permanent. There are a few products that can help lift out the clogs and prevent new ones. First, a granular (physical) cleanser can be used at the end of the shower to help loosen the clogs. Using the cleanser at the end of the shower is advisable because the heat from the water and steam does actually open your pores a small amount, allowing for the cleanser to remove the clogs. After your shower, apply a topical glycolic product, such as the BeautyRx Daily Exfoliating Therapy Serum, to remove the dead surface cells that cause clogging in the first place.
Following this regimen means that you won't be thinking about whether pores open or close... in fact, you won't be thinking about pores at all.
