We often receive questions about what Retin A can be used in conjunction with. Recently we were asked, "Can you use Retin A and antioxidants?" Patients can get confused about what you can use Retin-A and other retinoids with and what you cannot. You cannot use retinoids like Retin-A with acids like glycolic acid or salicylic acid, which are used to treat acne and exfoliate. However, you can use them just as long as they do not make contact with each other; you can use one in the day and the other at night. For antioxidants and retinoids, there is no conflict and can be used together as long as they are layered! One important thing to note is to use your antioxidants at bedtime since they will not work effectively in the sunlight.
